Greetings Northstars! Here we are heading into the holidays and another race season is behind us. Time flies when you’re having fun.

An article popped up on my Facebook feed the other day titled “Out There: The Training Buddies Manifesto”. While the article was entertaining, it made me take a step back and think about how fortunate we all are to have each other for support and friendship. We may not all run the same pace or be training for the same distance, but we all seem to band together to help each other out…this is where the training buddies come into play. I’ve seen it happen over and over, everyone is willing to speed up or slow down, or run a few more miles than they had planned so that their teammate doesn’t have to run 20 miles by themselves. This is true team work and I’m proud to say that I’m a part of this team.

Most of us are at a point where we can take a little break, get some rest and reenergize ourselves for what’s next. Take some time to reflect on 2017…what went well and what you could maybe improve on. Looking towards 2018, what are your goals? Maybe you’ll go for that elusive PR or a new distance. Whatever it is, you’ve got a group of knowledgeable people to help you get there. Don’t be afraid to reach out and seek advice.

2017 isn’t over yet; the annual Egg Nog Schlog is right around the corner so get that ugly sweater out and join in on the fun! 2018 will bring us up to International Falls and Icebox Days, the 2nd Annual Northstar Smoosh Races, our annual team party, and a fun trip to New Orleans.

Happy holidays!
